Betting was annoying. Caspion was the worst character ever created. Trehan didn’t kill Caspion so I’m annoyed at him, too.
This could have been a better book, if it weren’t for the characters.

Love the whole Lore series. Love Kresley Cole's writing and she did not disappoint this time!!!

If you’re reading in the series in order, the timeline of Shadow’s Claim largely overlaps with Lothaire. If you’re rereading the series, this one hits different after reading Shadow’s Seduction. However, I feel like this is a really good stand-alone story within the IAD world. Bettina and Trehan are both new characters and the competition for Bettina’s hand is an interesting event that so far is contained to this book.
Narration: Robert Petkoff is on another level from other narrators. This series is one that’s better if listened to.

I was skeptical of the Dacians after Lorhaire, but Kresley won me over on this one.

I had so much fun re-reading this one and it was even more amazing the second time around! I think Kresley Cole is a genius because I discovered so many easter eggs that I hadn't noticed during my first read, and when I connected them to the characters and events in the next few books especially Munro - it was pretty amazing!
Shadow's Claim follows Trehan Daciano, one of the mysterious Daciano royals who has spent his whole life living in the shadows and working as an assassin silently. He has dedicated everything to his kingdom but all of this changes one night when he meets his Bride - the one who makes his start beating again.
Princess Bettina of Abaddon has lived a sheltered life but after a traumatizing incident in the mortal world, she's back home under the watchful eye of her guardians and she has agreed to marry the final winner of the tournament that is being hosted by her godparents. Both she and her kingdom will be the winner's prize and though she believes that she's in love with her childhood friend Caspion, she doesn't seem to have any other options left until she meets Trehan.
This one was so good and I loved the romance between Trehan and Bettina! Both of them were such realistic characters and I loved watching them interact with each other! Though Bettina might seem a bit naive at first, she's very feisty, talented and protective of those she loves too. While she thinks that she's in love with Caspion, it takes her a while to face the reality of the situation and I had so much fun watching Trehan become jealous too! And Trehan is one of my favorite KC heroes! He gives up everything for her and is ready to fight hard to win her hand too! And the way he takes revenge on her behalf 👏 Both of them have a lot of differences to work through, but when they learn to communicate honestly, it ends up working out! The chemistry between them was off the charts and I loved the romance!
The funniest part was Lothaire giving Trehan relationship advice near the end 😂 I couldn't stop laughing!😂 Also, since this was a re-read I felt the significance of the supporting characters and their actions while noticing other minor details. I felt a bit sad while thinking about Gourlav and his fate after learning more about him in the other books. Gotta love KC's writing!
Anyway, I should probably stop gushing about this one now but if you haven't read this series yet, what are you waiting for?
