Shadow's Claim

Great series

Here's the problem with Shadow's Claim: Kresley Cole expanded this world so much and then has given us little return on it. Already before this book there were so many open plot holes, loose ties, questions unanswered... and instead of focusing on a book or pairing we were already committed to she gave us a whole new cast.

So even if this book is fine on its own, people want IAD!

... sigh ... Trehan is now my 2nd most favorite IAD vampire (right after Sebastian) ... well, it may be a tie actually.

Bettina . . . I had to warm up a little to her. She's a bit like a YA female lead. She's young, and traumatized . . . which leads to frustrating choices she makes along the way.

But whoa boy, Trehan is amazing in this story! I liked the tournament storyline, which is probably why I liked this one so much. It was a bit reminiscent of the Hie storyline with Sebastian.

This book has definitely set up for some serious ass kicking action in the upcoming books. I'm so looking forward to that. I'm really hoping for a kick ass female lead character soon. I miss the sassy heroines!

Meh. Not as bad as other romances (Porn for Women) I've read for the VF group, but still fairly awful. The plot was too predictable. I won't be reading any more by this author.

I love everything Kresley Cole has written and this is no different. I love the series

It was OK. The tournament was interesting, fast paced. I didn't care for Bettina an her "I love my best friend" shenanigans. She's so cliché about it.

edit: ...yeah i hated the last 20%
The dreaded 3rd act break-up is especially grating here. The fmc kept denying the mmc and the mmc became too barbaric for his own good.

This has a lot more dubcon than the other IAD books I've read but I guess that's to be expected considering the premise.

I just finished reading Let Me In by Lindqvist and it also is a book about vampires, love, fear and loneliness. It was such an amazing book but also very dark and disturbing. I loved it, but I needed some mindless brain fodder for my next book. ie. PNR. Kresley Cole has the recipe for success: change the names and places and the supernatural power and you have a book. The plus side is you know what you're getting: great action, lust and sex. The down side is you know what you're getting: no surprises. It is what it is; a paranormal romance. Kresley Cole is good at writing them, this is number #13 in the series and I've read them and liked them all. This one wasn't one of her best for me though. Maybe because it came on the coattails of a truly amazing book? 2.5 stars

Well, the last book by Kresley Cole that I read started with the male love interest raping the protagonist, then we got to watch her fall in love with him, so this was better than that. Mostly just entertaining for me because my name is Dacia, and everyone talking about "Dacia's bubbling blood fountains" made me smile. Also rife with sex scenes, no surprise there.

I do believe that from all the creatures in authors world i like vampires best :)
