I do love a multi-species (demons, trolls, werewolves, vampires) tournament to the death. And a fated-mate plotline.

3.5 stars....maybe 4 just for Trehan!

I REALLY wanted a Paranormal fix because none of the books previous to this was really working out for me. I knew Kresley Cole could help a girl out. She delivered and I'm so happy!!!

The story was unique and I loved the world of Abaddon.

AND LOTHAIRE.

description

For those 2 seconds he was in this, it made my life. I love that man like crazy!!

Anyways, back to the main characters. Trehan, he was such a great multilayered character. He fought for what he wanted but didn't want the scraps she was giving him.

She, being Bettina.

Oh lord, this girl was another case. I tried. I tried to like her and I just. Couldn't. She was so selfish and naïve and just so dang annoying. I wanted to go into the book and slap her silly because of how dumb she was being. I was happy she figured out who she actually wanted but it took too long.

However, I cannot wait for more Cole books!

I liked it but didn't live it. I found it to be predictable and lacking the classic Cole humor. I really disliked Bettina and think Terhan could do better. Hoping the next book gets better but annoyed that you have to read this series cause it intertwines with IAD now.

Trehan is so great and Bettina is so... young. But she's consistent and she grows.

Kresley Cole has been on my paranormal list to read for a long time. I read poison princess recently and then this one fell into my hands.

It was good. On a paranormal scale is was really good. The world building is excellent. I believe there were mentions of other characters form the Lore but because I haven't read them yet there were no fluffy feelings of recognition.
Prince Trehan in a assassin and has spent the last nine hundred years being as cold and unfeeling and duty bound as possible. While on the hunt he stumbles across Bettina, Princess of Abbadon. She is part Demon and part Sorcori, has had her powers stripped from her and thinks she's in love with her best friend Caspion (who Trehan is there to kill). The two of them have problems, participatory the Caspion think (but that is defiantly a communication thing on Bettina's part how is trying to eat her cake and have it too.)

I liked Bettina, no hate here. She was feminine, her fears real (to a point) and she had some depth to her. She also wasn't totally weak, although I got tired of her letting Morgana walk all over. Trehan is tortured and possessive and maybe a bit over the top but I thought he was funny in a sarcastic I'm going to be eaten alive by lust sort of way.

I think my absolute favorite character was Salem, Bettina's sylph guardian who I want to see back in a body and get his own story. He is funny. I also want to see Trehan cousin vViktor's story because I think he will be funny as well.

I LOVE Kresley, and am so excited she's spun off this series! Hot guy, crazy contest to win the girl's hand, secret interludes in the mist...

YUM!

for a book that definitely has its dark parts, i weirdly had a lot of fun with this. i liked seeing these two characters together

I’m still slowly making my way through all Felicia Day’s old book club picks. This was eye rolling but fun. Ridiculous vampire insta-love, medieval I combat trials, silly 2000s pop culture references, it’s just a fun read.
