Love, love, love! A real feel good book about sheep-what more could you want?!

I picked this up because it sounded so cool. The shepherd's been killed and the sheep have to find out who did it. It's such a great twist on the detective story - and there's a lot out there at the moment. And then there's the little flick book sheep in the bottom corner. It's so cute. I really, really wanted to love this book. I started it about a month ago and I struggled on through the first 150 pages. And I was a bit fed up with it. I really didn't care who had murdered the shepherd, how all these people fitted into the plot, what would happen to the sheep or anything. So I put it to one side and read a few books. And now I've come back to it, opened it up at the place I'd stopped, and... I honestly can not be bothered. I don't think I'm going to hang on to this one any more. Maybe I'll meet a copy in a few years and read it and really love it, but right now that's not happening.

Light but enjoyable reading. It's the story of a flock of Irish sheep whose shepherd turns up dead in the middle of their meadow one morning. These sheep are very intelligent, and immediately launch their own investigation of the crime. The characters of the sheep are much more developed than those of the villagers, each sheep having a very distinct personality and a special trait or talent. While probably not Pulitzer material, this is definitely a fun read.

Really amazing and well-versed story of one herd of clever sheep solving a murder mystery

Everything I could want from “a sheep detective story.” Each member of the flock has a distinctive personality and perspective while still being distinctly sheep-like. It’s amusing throughout. And I genuinely wasn’t sure where the story was headed.

Flaws of characters a main focus: No

This was not the kind of story that I was expecting. I was expecting more Jasper Fforde than sheep-point-of-view. But I thought it was fun to read, especially since I'm not a big fan of mysteries. The ending was a little predictable and drawn out, but satisfying. All-in-all, if you're looking for a light read, then I recommend this.

A whimsical delight. If I get murdered, put these sheep on the case.
