I really thought this book sounded cute and was read by my book club. I only got 60 pages in and I was so bored. I have hundreds of books waiting to be read so I will take it back to the library unfinished and move on.

What an utterly delightful and unexpected treat. Three Bags Full is like no cosy mystery I’ve read or listened to before. Think The Thursday Murder Club but with a flock of clever, emotionally complex, and oddly relatable sheep.

Yes, sheep. And I loved every minute.

The story follows a band of woolly detectives led by the thoughtful Miss Maple as they try to make sense of the human world after their shepherd is mysteriously found dead. Their insights are naive yet profound, giving this story a whimsical, heartfelt layer you wouldn’t expect from a murder mystery.

And let’s talk about the narration: the Irish narrator absolutely elevated the entire experience. The tone was perfect. Warm, gentle, and full of life.

A curious, cosy, and clever mystery wrapped in fleece. I’ll be thinking about these sheep for a long time.
