Every so often I find myself in "did I not really get what this book or doing or did I get it just fine and not entirely like it"? The entwined narratives of this novel caught me that way; I kept wondering what exactly was behind the meta-commentary choice. It definitely added to the experience of the novel and the way it called attention to specific things - and it rewards reflection, which I guess is a net positive. But it feels like meta-text on the text rather than entirely integral. I wanted it to be doing more.
The internal story was twisty in all the right ways and I very much appreciated how it worked itself out, coincidences aside. It's not a mystery novel without coincidences.

I found this book really interesting, and the idea of a book within a book was super cool. The ending I feel could have had a bit more to it, but otherwise I think it was a good book and I enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this little mystery. A cast of characters. Alittle confusing in the beginning keeping track of real people versus characters but then this little mystery sucks you in. I loved that at one point I had decided each of them had committed the murder. Which obviously they all didn’t.

Let me start this review off by telling you I don't really read mysteries. I read this because my mom (a librarian) saw this book and thought I might like it.
She was right. This book was stunning. There is no way to explain the joy and excitement this book gave me.
It was sweet and funny, but also chilling and anxiety inducing at times.
The characters were great and so well written. This is one of those books where you can feel yourself falling in love with the love interest as the character is falling for them.

I must say, I never thought Cain was the killer, honestly, I was afraid it was Marigold. The fact that it was Whit was completely out of left field! I never would have guessed it was him!

This was such a good book and I highly recommend it on anyone and everyone!!!
