I got it on audio and maybe my mind wandered too much while it played but I just couldn’t get into it.

DID NOT FINISH

i didn't know that it was just a fictionalized version of real life events before reading and that really threw me off
dark emotional inspiring

Great book that talks about womanhood, surviving extreme trauma and the importants of female friendships. It is a fictional story but leans heavily on real events at time. This all happens without glorifying the abuser and it really centers victims of serial killers while criticizing the press and the legal system during the 70s [and the criticism is still relevant]. Using the term "the defendant" throughout the whole book and the title being bright young women was a fantastic choice. The 3 alternating povs are easy to follow while coming together beautifully at the end. I heard this as an audio book and couldn't wait to keep going.
Imo, everyone who likes true crime stories should read this book.
