This is the best book in the Murder Most Unladylike series so far! This mystery was inspired by the murder on the orient express and I really it. I really want to read that book now!

Stevens give us more insight into Hazel's family with the introduction of her father, showing us his expectations of her and the pressure she feels from him to be a "good English girl". This book is also the first to properly look at the issue of race and Hazel's feelings of being 'other' because she is from Hong Kong, particularly in comparison to Daisy who is described as a stereotypical English rose character. Taking inspiration from Christie's 'Murder on the Orient Express' (which came out a year before this novel is set), this story is thrilling and really makes you work to figure out who the murderer could be. Stevens includes characters from previous books for an exciting sub-plot, as well as introducing new characters, with a keen focus on Alexander, another aspiring detective who wants to strike a friendship with Hazel and Daisy. My favourite from the series so far!

Enjoyed very much, and more than the second series. Always so full of fun, secrets and adventure, as well as a nuanced central character and very believable best-friendship.

As a series, this is one of the best I've read in awhile. I like that there's a significant time lapse between each book which I think adds slightly more believability than ones where murders seem to happen right on top of each other XD I am downgrading this one to a 4-star though as I did predict the ending of this one pretty early on. Can't wait for more!

Attempting a murder mystery set on the Orient Express was ambitious, but I think Stevens pulled it off. I'll admit at the start I was a little less impressed than I had been with the first two, but as things progressed everything changed into this incredible work of art! Once again, Stevens stayed true to the characters of the Detective Agency and brought in elements of the serious nature of crime, whilst balancing it well with the quirky humour. Quite possibly my favourite of the three MMU mysteries!

This book was really good however I do warn people not to read, 'Murder on the Orient Express' by Agathe Christe before you read this book. This book is written as a tribute to Christes novel and a lot of things are very very similar. I knew who the murderer was and how they did it when everyone first found the body because it was so similar. That being said the book is still very well written and it does have it's own twists to the story but I recommend reading this one first before the actual 'Murder on the Orient Express' as you will enjoy both books a lot more if you do.
