This was a relatively short book for me but I felt pretty attached to the characters in the sense that I cared what happened to them and love/hate feeling for all the main characters. Larch had me at grabbing his sourdough starter. This book hits as a parent.

I liked this eco-sci-fi story because it isn’t your average post apocalyptic story where the world is a disaster. It is as if it is really how things could end up in about 3 generations from now. It was a good story that kept me engaged and reading. Great book.

First impressions: This started slow but sped up fast. Still not sure how I feel about it. Comparisons to station eleven, the Overstory, ministry for the future make sense, but felt a little less complex than those 3. I’m glad I read it but I’m not sure if I ~enjoyed~ reading it. I did think the generational trauma was well done, and it left me with a lot of existential dread.
