Felicia is a single mother, a lawyer by day, and volunteer at the local crisis hotline. One night, she gets a call from a local teenage girl who reveals that she was the victim of sexual assault at a house party. Felicia breaks protocol by giving the teen her personal phone number and she grows increasingly determined to help the young woman stay safe and seek justice. Over time, Felicia begins to worry that she may know one of the assailants.
Decently predictable, One of Our Own is a quick read packed with reveals. I was able to get the audiobook really quickly via the Libby app, and it was well done. 3☆

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read that wasn’t too complicated. The only thing I didn’t like was the ending. I really wish that it had been left more ambiguous and you were stuck questioning at the end of who did it.

What? Why? Good twist, saw it coming, but wow.
3.8 rounded up!
I’ve read / listened to every novel / novella published by #LucindaBerry and I’ve get to find one I haven’t liked.
While this was not her BEST it was still very much worth the listen! Its available only on audio (Audible, Spotify Premium) and about 3-4 hours long.
It’s very similar to Saving Noah when it comes to a domestic and psychological thriller but it’s not identical by any means. The perspective, and the emotions it induces, are entirely different because we did NOT receive a “WOW” factor like usual… the reader knows what coming and in my opinion, that was absolutely her intention, yet it isn’t something she does often.
The ending was a BIT rushed for her but the delivery was still there. I didn’t feel cheated of my time, ya know?
Overall Rating: 3.8 ✨

I'm always looking for a fast paced read (since I'm the mom of a 2 year old), and this was the perfect book. I ended up listening to the audio and it was done so well! So many sound effects, and really easy to follow. I had a great time, but the ending was predictable, so that's why it wasn't 5 stars. Its a milder version of Saving Noah.
Far too short for any real plot or character development but the narrator was good! A quick 3 hour listen with an interesting idea.
