This is more than a story about a favorite toy that gets lost. It shows Teddy’s mom going to great lengths to help him, and does the important work of normalizing a boy playing with a doll.

I kinda want to gift this to every mom I know. It's a sweet story of a toy getting lost, but beyond that it's a story about how a mom will do everything she can to help her child, and a story showing that boys liking dolls is no big deal, and a story showing girl power. And it's just cute fun. Definitely one I'll add to my school library and recommend others read.
So adorable! Though not sure we should tell kids that once something has been picked up by the trash collectors that we can ever see it again because...yeah nope. :(
But otherwise SO CUTE!

May 2018 - suspend your disbelief about how easy it would be to retrieve your garbage from the garbage truck, and enjoy the way the story celebrates play. Teddy's favorite toy is a fabulous doll that is polite, fights hard, and enjoys many costume changes. I love the way his selection of toys is truly gender neutral, and the way his mom comes to the rescue. A rare picture book that pushes back at some gender stereotypes. Ben was an immediate fan.
One of the best picture books Ive ever come across!
3.5 This is the first picture book I’ve ever read with the phrase ‘Yass queen!’ and I’m totally into it.
Impossible not to love a picture book where the boy shouts “Yas, Queen!”

Ummm YES PLEASE. Teddy has lots of cool toys, but his FAVORITE is Bren-Da, who is extremely polite and has sick moves in epic battles. When disaster strikes, though, will Mom help save the day? This book has sneaky diversity and superior use of "YAS-QUEEN!" - new fave.
