I very much did not relate to this protagonist, which made for an interesting reading experience. Still, I found her funny if insufferable, and loved learning about the people in her life. Julia Whelan narrating saved some of the slower, sadder passages for me and the writing was solid where the plot/characters let me down.

Boring, didn’t connect to characters, didn’t see it going anywhere. People said it was funny but I didn’t laugh. Just not for me, I tried (got over halfway!)

A easy read, although I found there was no real story line to follow and it focused on random days in the person's life. I found the book reasonably funny and lighthearted but did not challenge me

This book is a fairly light read. At times it is insightful and funny. But it's merits are overshadowed by it being overwritten(severely), predictable, and mostly unoriginal.

This book is hard to describe - it can't be filed neatly under a genre category other than fiction. So I guess contemporary fiction? It's about a coming of age, late twenties woman going through a divorce and the insufferable things she does to herself and everyone around her in order to just get through to the next day. I really liked the portrayal of female anxiety and the wording of those crazy feelings and thoughts you have rambling in your head. I also loved the nods to the Toronto scape (but they were maybe too frequent??... could just be because I noticed them more since I can actually identify with them/ see them in my mind.) I think this author will be exciting to watch as they get more into their groove.

What I really want to know is how does a (not that well known) Toronto, Ontario author get the queen of audio (Julia Whelan) to narrate her book? Well done! Julia bumped this book up a whole star for me.
