Another buddy read with Jules in the summer of 2020! Remember not particularly enjoying it, but a scene that I thought about a lot was the way the author described the way Marlena was counting while holding her breath so her drunk ass of a dad wouldn't wake up. Reminded me of something similar I used to do with a parent of mine, but not in the exact situation. A loooot of abuse :(
