Thanks to NetGalley and Carina UK for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was one of the relatively few books I've requested, and I did so based on the cover (I do judge books by their covers!) and description. It seemed like typical chick-lit, and it was. That also means it was 100% predictable, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, story-wise. But it's sad that in order for the story to progress in one way, some characters had to remain completely flat (Brett, for example).

Basically, Emily, a recently-engaged British woman living in Manhattan, was called back to the UK to take care of her stepfather who she just learned has Alzheimer's. Her two stepsisters had to go to Paris to see their mother. At first, the author plays up the evil stepfamily bit, though definitely to no extreme. Then as the story develops, things get better between everyone. She meets her "James Bond-esque" (I think she described him as a JB character..) neighbor, and yeah.

The book seemed far too long for what it was though. I found myself skimming over so many pages in the last half of the book.
