DNF'd at about 40%. I wanted to like this book because I love the history surrounding Violet Jessop and the Titanic, but I didn't expect the book to be dual POV with Violet and also not focusing primarily on the Titanic. While Daphne's storyline is very intriguing, I think it would've been better suited towards its own book with her as a main character. Daphne as a character is honestly really just piggy-backing off of the intrigue built by Violet Jessop and the Titanic.

This was so painfully meh.
It took so long to get into and then the ending was both dumb and unbelievable because all the strings were too nicely tied up. The writing was cringe at some points because it felt like the author was trying to convey emotion and was embarrassingly doing so. It all felt very juvenile, but I don't think it was meant to be a middle-grade/YA book? Then, there was the case of having two main characters. Normally I like a dual timeline or dual character POV, but their connection was forced and not developed enough, so I did not care for it. I much preferred Daphne to Violet because Violet never went after what she wanted and it got tiring. Honestly, I think this book would have been much better if it was a more developed tale of Daphne's time in WWII -- without anything about Violet.
The only redeeming portion was the subplot of both Violet's and Daphne's romances, but even then, their ending with both men felt unbelievable and too idealistic. This is just not a book I would recommend anyone read.

It wasn't what I thought it would be and for that I enjoyed it all the more.
