Truly horrific but beautifully written. Worth a read if you can stomach it.

Another one of those wtf did I just read. It's messed up and graphic, which seems to be right up my alley here lately.

this book is very fucked up.
oddly enough though, i really enjoyed it - the author has an addictive way of writing and weaving the story together, leaving you wanting more, even though you’d rather not continue on.
it is quite predictable, but not in a negative way, it makes you want to continue on to see if it’s truly going in the direction you hope it won’t, and creates such dread within you.

not a book i would necessarily just recommend to anyone, and definitely read trigger warnings - there’s some heavy stuff in here. will definitely be looking into the second book soon.
perfect for a start to the halloween season.

OMG i loved this book! Its disgusting in the best way possible, and i loved how it blenda fantasy and reality? horror, i thought it would be more of a creepy supernatural being in the woods kind of book but it wasnt i loved that. The ending is fitting but kinda lame, I think that after everything that happened it was a little bit hurried/didnt get the amount of words it deserved? i would loved it if it. was a lottle more detailed.

I loved how yo start fellong pity for Lori and her sad lofe, thinking that maybe this thing for serial killers is just a way to spark her boring life, and wanting the best for her in this creepy situation she got into, but when you start to learn about her past you just want the river man to tear her apart. I think it was a perfect way to pass the book, i hate when horror books just take innocents lives to shock you more. /

Overall i think it was a good read to get our of a reading slump but the werinig, althought beatiful at parted, needed to be better at some points, specially develpment-wise. I loved the idea of intercalating present, past and the letters but theres something in how this is written that makes me go ehhhh.

I was bored out of my mind that i kept lacking off while reading it not gonna lie. I started it because I heard about how disturbing, disgusting, shocking, and culty this book is. Well guess what is IS NOT. The horror of this book are the characters and how awful they are while constantly thinking they are the best. 90% of the book is a boring ass journey that gets you angrier as it goes because of entitled and awful the main characters are then you get like 10% of all the other adjectives: gore, disgusting and culty. The one star and half is for the riverman cause honestly that is the only character I want to read about. Either I have the worst luck with horror books or writers need to seriously start giving dark folklores a chance. Overall boring as fuck!
