I am not easy to unsettle, so I guess the author did his job, the gore and the writting were good, but I personally find it difficult to enjoy a book when I don't like the main character and don't care what happens to them. Brutal and definitely not for everyone.

For sure one of the better splatterpunk pieces I've read as far as the actual plot goes! I am newer to the genre but I enjoyed this one. Super great balance of horror elements and interesting plot. Didn't love how graphic the SA scenes were - that's the only thing I could have done without, but it sure did accomplish the point of making it super uncomfortable.

one of the best written horror novels i’ve ever laid eyes on. triana’s prose absolutely sings, and there are scenes in this book that, while incredibly disgusting and violent, are described so beautifully. i also just love his willingness to feature an unrepentantly vile man character — lori suuuuucks, and yet i was totally invested in her journey and wanted to see where she’d end up next. just an absolute gem of a book.

I was expecting a creepy demonic supernatural murder, but uhhhhhh let's just say I left the story very uncomfortable which I suppose means the author did his job.
