Even though it is grim and harrowing, I often found myself not able to put this book down. The well written characters had little to no redeeming qualities, all varying shades of putrid muck. Finished it in just under two days and that ending was absolutely perfect.

Truly horrific but beautifully written. Worth a read if you can stomach it.

i don’t know what to do with this.

this was probably one of the most horrific things i’ve ever read, and i know that’s the point. some of it was incredible, some of it gave me pause, but i think overall it’s a horror story & it definitely hit the mark there — it horrified me.

it wasn’t nearly as scary as it was disturbing & just gross (please look into trigger warnings before reading!!!)

also the main character is delulu in a way i have never seen before, that’s for sure lol.

this book is very fucked up.
oddly enough though, i really enjoyed it - the author has an addictive way of writing and weaving the story together, leaving you wanting more, even though you’d rather not continue on.
it is quite predictable, but not in a negative way, it makes you want to continue on to see if it’s truly going in the direction you hope it won’t, and creates such dread within you.

not a book i would necessarily just recommend to anyone, and definitely read trigger warnings - there’s some heavy stuff in here. will definitely be looking into the second book soon.
perfect for a start to the halloween season.

lori steadily became such an obviously horrible person that i nearly DNF'd around 60% or so, and honestly? she somehow just kept getting worse, really probably wouldn't have missed out on much if i'd just stopped there. i appreciate that it didn't seem like the writing actually tried to excuse any of the awful, AWFUL shit she did but the way she blames all those awful things on her victims and seemingly never seriously thinks that any of it was HER fault just made her so insufferable to read about i was at my wit's end by the last chapter. you and your serial killer boyfriend are perfect for each other girl, hope you got what was comin for you in the end 👍
