This book was really good starting off, I really enjoyed the short and well-paced chapters, as well as the little flashbacks and snippets that broke the main plot up. 
I didn't know much about the book going into it and when some of the themes of this book emerged, I felt very put-off. But that's on me for not checking TW's. 

>SPOILER< Something that completely broke the tone of the novel for me, and felt borderline ridiculous, was the scene of Lori and Abby finally getting into the River Man's hut. The flaming footsteps, the pool of blood, the heavy metal guitar-playing old demon dude. It felt silly and didn't have an impact on me other than confusion.

Enjoyed the way the mystery was revealed in short bursts, you think you know what it'll be and it'll throw you a curveball you hadn't even considered. By the end Lori truly got what she deserved.

For sure one of the better splatterpunk pieces I've read as far as the actual plot goes! I am newer to the genre but I enjoyed this one. Super great balance of horror elements and interesting plot. Didn't love how graphic the SA scenes were - that's the only thing I could have done without, but it sure did accomplish the point of making it super uncomfortable.

The atmosphere in the book was well written and Lori’s motivations were thoroughly explored but I just can’t give a higher rating to something this graphic. Check trigger warnings before reading. Seriously. I can’t believe I read this without checking myself.
