It is goofy and nerdy. I wish more books are like this

Maybe this book was meant for the YA section, but we found it in the juvenile part of our library...and my 8-year-old was not super happy to come across the word p*ssed. (Nor was her mom.)
FAIL.
FAIL.

funny
Quick silly read about the everyday awkward situations and friend drama in a teen girl's life. To date myself, it gave me that Seventeen magazine embarrassing reader story page vibe.

Warning: Scathing review incoming.
I picked this up because it looked like a read-alike for the Dork Diaries and Popularity Papers series. I was not impressed. The main character's personality was cringe-inducing. I really don't like that "Omigod guys, look at me, I'm like such a NERD!!1!" attitude, and I've never in my life met anyone who actually acts that way. Instead of presenting charming or funny anecdotes about life as a teen, most pages are filled up with one or two words in enormous, girly fonts and a picture. If the purpose of this book was to showcase typefaces that look like they were designed to appeal to tweens and teens, then it would get an A+ from me, but the end result is that there is so little room for for actual text that the plot is nearly non-existent. So what does actually happen in this book? A girl named Jessie tells you about some stuff she likes and gets in a minor disagreement with her friend. Also she likes a boy. That's pretty much it.

Wish I'd had a book like this as a tween instead of repeatedly turning to corny magazines. This book is fresh, realistic, and fun!
