Trigger warning: rape in this book

Is it too much to ask for a female author to write a smart heroine? Can we stop using rape as a catalyst trope for woman to transform & be strong.

The last 2 were fine but going on for 3 books & stretching out really mundane shit like who Barrons is, who to trust, Mac continuing to be a bumbling bimbo is getting real fucking old. I’ll give the next one a go to see if it get better or if I’m done with the series.

Way better than the previous entry in the series! Mac is less whiny and more active about her destiny. And the end was amazing, can't wait to read the next one.

Ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh!!!!! This series might kill me!

I…I really hate Barron’s. (He knocked a whole star off the book for me. I know he’s supposed to be mysterious, brooding and sexy, but really he’s just an emotional terrorist.) I also dislike Mac from time to time. I really wasn’t expecting the end though. My goodness, what will happens next!?

I should have read the reviews on here before listening. I knew it was the third book, but often times it doesn't matter if you've heard/read the first two. It did here. But I picked up enough of what was going on to still really enjoy and follow this book. Until the end when it just totally stopped in the middle! I understand there are 2 more books planned after this, but doubt I'll be able to track them down at the library on audio, so I'll never know what happens. That's kinda disappointing. If I had the time or ambition, I would read these though, as I really did enjoy the story and lore.

These just keep getting better! On to the next one.

Repetitive

I feel like so much of this could b consolidated. A lot of repetition, a lot of filler to me.

Yet another Fever novel that I've devoured in ~24 hours... these books are just SO good. Non-stop action, likable supporting characters, and continuous world-building.

Mac has so many male supporting characters coming into play, each serving a new purpose to her survival while also carrying secrets of their own. She can never fully trust any of them, keeping them at arm's length and a secret from the others.

She's becoming more and more of a badass and it really shines in this book. Taking what she needs from each of those males to benefit her own self-preservation.

Don't EVEN get me started about Barrons... or V'lane. Don't ask me which one I'm more OBSESSED with because I can NOT answer that.

Honestly, this book might be the best in the series so far. Highly recommend! Now onto the next...
challenging dark tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

This is the type of series that you're plodding along going "good world building, good writing, characters we're still developing...I'll keep going even though I'm so-so about it" and then suddenly you're "I'm addicted and I need to finish this series!" I have no idea what happens between 2 and 3, but I finished 3 and it was the best of the books. Maybe it's because we get a TINNNNNNYYYYYY bit of heat from Mac and Barrons or it's Mac is finally leveling out from naive and reckless to putting everything together and trying to become a player on the board rather than working for all the players on the board. I like all the characters and the crazy story we get. In some ways, not a great deal happens in each of the books. I mean, not nothing happens, but they really start to merge together in terms of plot because they're very tightly connected until the end of each book. The end sends the series into a new direction for the start of the next book. This end was kind of upsetting. I'm really curious to see what happens in the next book!
