Best so far. Dark, deep, and somehow a bit droll all at once. The writing is better here too as Moning really finds her feet in this story and takes her characters on a ride rife with tension, tenderness, and moral ambiguity. Straight onto the next.
Dear friends, if any of you are seeing my ratings and reviews of this series I have some things to say. First of all, I love this series. I have been devouring the books the second I get my hands on them. They are very much early two thousands, which I really like. This series is often recommended as an urban fantasy with romance. I don't necessarily consider it that. It is absolutely urban fantasy, and there is definitely sexual tension but this is really not a romance in my opinion. The male interests are by no means romantic and are often brutal, so maybe I (this far in the series) would categorize this as an urban fantasy and leave it at that. Anyways, don't go into this thinking there's going to be some light hearted romance. This is pretty dark, and at times I would liken it closer to horror :) That being said, check the trigger warnings and read it. Then tell me so we can talk about it together.
