I'll give it another shot at a later date but I'm not familiar with the story and so didn't catch much of it just listening to the audio version.

This was a very interesting read, and while I loved the relationship between Helen and the countess, I cannot think of a more ridiculous way to get a man to give in to being your husband than to conceive a child while he thinks you are someone else. It’s like Shakespeare does days of our lives.

Actually one of my favorite Shakespeares now. Helena is so wonderfully clever, her relationship with the King is almost adorable, and the whole play doesn't read at all like a comedy. This could have had a very "history play" feel to it, if only the very last couple stanzas had went in a slightly different way.

Considering that Shakespeare's heroine Helena uses all her clever devices to win what is really a douchebag, this play should've more fittingly been called Much Ado About Nothing.

This is a problem play if I've ever read one. I think that a large part of my appreciation for All's Well comes from its influence and obscurity rather than the actual play itself. The play itself is a weird story about psychopaths and narcissists that is so unbelievable that it works.

Not a fan of this… was confused, felt like the characters had no real substance, did not find it funny even as a meta-comedy.
