Fun biok. This is a sequel, Ernest dealing with aftermath of events in his first book - personally and professionally, when he is put into another situation of who done it

I wanted to like this more. I really like the breaking of the 4th wall. I had trouble getting into the story at the beginning.

Disclaimer: I did not read the first book, I just kinda jumped into this one.
I found this book genuinely funny, even actually laughing out loud a few times, not just doing that amused nose breathing thing.
It's difficult to write a meta book without being pompous, but I think Stevenson managed it.
The characters were interesting and real, and though not every conclusion was a jaw dropping mystery, I found it really satisfying whenever Ernest proved his deductive skills.
For me this book felt like a beach read, or something to take with you on the train during a hot summer day. Warm-hearted, witty, and funny.

I still love the writing style and tone, as with the first, but had trouble following all the characters. A little too much going on

Was debating on 3.5 or 4 so 3.75 it is lol. A really fun read. My only gripe with it is that is a slow build but once the murder happens its non stop information and thinking and fun-ness. Really fun. Also very unique in the way you are kinda walked though Ernests thoughts, almost as if you were having a conversation with him through the little 4th wall break moments. These moments really made digesting and processing of new info way easier and more fun. I didn't even know this was a sequel when I picked it up but I for sure need the first book now.
