The author is a stand-up comedian, which means I had a much easier time forgiving genre tropes!! (I don't really like mystery novels, especially ones that take Occam's razor and throw it into the abyss for shock value! But at least this book/series is self-aware, in that it is a mystery novel that literally tells you what genre tropes it will and won't be following. Like, it specifically tells you the amount of times you will read the killer's name, and at what word counts the murders (plural!) will occur.)

Anyway, very silly! Written by a man, but one who is sorry about it. I read the first book a few years ago on a whim and when I remembered there was a second book I had to wait on the hold list for a good long time. Popular for a reason, I'd say! I think this is probably the only contemporary mystery series I like, though I am begrudgingly open to finding more 🧘🏼‍♀️

I wanted to like this one but it couldn’t keep my interest. The writing style though was really unique and how the story was told was interesting. The having a train full of thriller authors and a murder mystery happens and the author that is telling the story is also writing the story as it all comes together. It is for sure the book for someone just not for me because my interest wasn’t completely into it. Now I will say the chapter where all it said was “She said no.” Was hilarious and definitely liked that part and how it all happened. But the actual muster of it did lose me at parts.
