I liked the premise and how both worldbuilding and plot points are helped by Cat’s inability to use the gene tech everyone else relies on. Ultimately though the plot just felt too convoluted.
Graphic: Gore, Gun violence, Blood, Medical content, and Medical trauma
Moderate: Death of parent, Cannibalism, and Violence

this mortal coil
i want to start this off by saying that my review might not be the most reliable. i’ve had this book for a long time and i’ve re-read this book enough times that i’ve developed an emotional bond to this book so i might be a biased when it comes to this book.
that being said, i adored this book! the concept of the world that Catrina lives in is so intriguing to me. i love the idea of gene-hacking and the computer science element in this book.
not to mention i also loved, Cole and Leoben. they had a nice dynamic and they were very fun to read.
i have to admit that i did not like the weird ‘love triangle’ thing with Dax, Catrina and Cole, i feel like it was unnecessary to the plot.
lastly i enjoyed the plot twist, it was unexpected and intriguing! it was shocking to find out what exactly happened and it was well executed.
the conclusion is that i truly enjoyed this book and because of my love for computer science and biochemistry, i truly enjoyed this book. i hope everyone else did too:)
