I absolutely adored "Sister of the Bride." Main character and narrator Pippen Marino basically learns to be a grownup on the pages of this book as pretty much everything in her life changes, starting with her twin sister's unexpected engagement and wedding, and ending with Pippen's seemingly newfound lust for her newly returned to town best friend, Toby. There is no big bad here - no big lies, no third act breakup, no non-redeemable characters. This is a simple story of growth, acceptance of self and others, and a realization of love. With some hot sexy times thrown in. I highly recommend.

5 stars. Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for a complimentary ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.

Sister of the Bride by Susan Mallery
Katie McCormick sister Courtney had taken her boyfriend Alex from her and their wedding was happening.
She was to get set up with Howie, her moms best friend son who Katie didn't get along with him.
It was only a front for the stay at the hotel for the wedding, and she was the oldest of the daughters.
The hotel was in Fool's Gold, at the Gold Rush Lodge and Spa so I am excited that we will run into the
residents of the town and catch up with their latest news in this book.
She writes the sports section of the local newspaper, sometimes other stories.
He wrote a computer program for an inventory program that went viral.
A lot has changed in their lives since they first met when they were teens.
Disasters arise and Howie comes to the rescue, not only once, or twice ...
Fun and games for the couples are in order, poodle skirts and the men in white oxford shirts.

This is a fun, short love story that takes place over four days at a ski resort. I found myself laughing over some of the scenes, like when Katie's Aunt Tully kisses Jackson and tries to buy him from Katie by offering to buy her a new Lexus. Or when Katie's mom gets drunk and starts describing her sex life with Katie's dad to Katie and Jackson in the elevator. Jackson is a mature adult, which is a lot more than I can say about a lot of male protagonists in cishet romance novels. Although their relationship feels a little rushed due to the short period in which it develops, it's still believable.

I swear I've been on a roll with reading susan mallery books I find myself going through them like crazy I just dont want to put them down. This novella was everything. I wish it could have been a novel instead because I would love to read more of the characters and see them really develop more of their relationship. Other than that this was a cute read and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Sometimes I’m in the mood for a quick happy ending but this was TOO quick. TOO happy. The guy who broke up with her for her sister tried to come back to her? The ex of her new guy tries to sabotage and she doesn’t believe it for a minute? He proposed after knowing her for 4 days?

"When Katie McCormick finds out that her sister is marrying her ex, she finally agrees to a setup for the big day. To her surprise, Jackson is a catch. But when wedding catastrophe ensues, will their sparks fizzle or ignite into flames?" (From Amazon)

I really enjoyed this novella...and loved Katie and Jackson. I would recommend this novella to everyone reading this series.

Katie McCormick's ex-boyfriend is marrying her sister. When her mother insists on setting her up with her best friend's son, Katie reluctantly agrees even though she remembers hating Howie as a kid. But the Howie who turns up is nothing like she remembers and soon they can't keep their hands off each other.

A sweet and sexy second chances romance.
Katie and Jackson make a charming couple and their chemistry is fantastic. My one regret is that Katie didn't punch her obnoxious sister in the nose.

Honestly this book had so much potential and had a great start. But from there everything went downhill. The plot was too predictable. There were so many cliches and many over used themes common to most contemporary romance novels. Courtney was very unlikable and although I liked Katie at first I ended up not feeling sympathetic towards her at all about a third of the way in. It just was a very disappointing read overall.

Sister of the Bride is a novella in the Fool’s Gold series and this was just such a quick and easy read. I just fell in love with these amazing characters. I can’t wait to read more wonderful stories from this author.
