I really appreciated finally reading a book with asexual/aromantic representation. This encouraged me to really look at my own sexuality and find out I’m demisexual and possibly graysexual (where I fluctuate between ace and allo it seems idk.) so in some ways, I related to Georgia and in other ways I didn’t, but that’s okay because it’s good to know others are being represented. I also love seeing the importance of friendship and platonic love. However, after reading other reviews of the book, I do have to agree that some of the dialogue was way too on the nose (ex: “why is this movie so obsessed with sex? Oh I get it it’s an ace thing haha”) and i also saw other criticizing the book for having POC characters as “token” characters and since I’m white, it’s not something I realized at first, but looking back they did seem a bit one dimensional. I would also have loved to see more dynamic with Georgia and her family, especially her ace cousin, and figuring that all out, instead of put all in one chapter. So all to say, I did enjoy the book and loved the representation, but it wasn’t perfect and could have improved in some ways.

THIS BOOK. IS AMAZING.
I've never read an Alice Oseman book before, and this one was most definitely the right choice.
I'm ace, so I really related to A LOT that Georgia felt and had to explain, and I really loved seeing that represented, because I literally never have before. It made me feel so seen.
Also, the characters were so well written, and I just loved the whole story (and that they were theater kids!)
Amazing all around, this might be tied with The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo for my favorite book!

I LOVE THIS BOOK.
REPRESENTATION MATTERS.

Georgia’s story is so wonderfully written with cracks of humor and honest storytelling. Her “sexuality discovery” story is written so accurately, so full of confusion, denial, anger, desperation, despair. This was the most relatable book I’ve read and I swallowed the whole thing in a few hours.
