My Thoughts On: Buffy the Vampire Slayer #17
1. Wesley is into online RPG??? This is unexpected but welcome characterization for him, and I love it.
2. ETHAN RAYNE IS A GHOST? ETHAN RAYNE IS A YOUNG, SEXY GHOST? WHO HAUNTS WESLEY FOR SOME REASON AND MESSES WITH HIS WORD DOCUMENTS? This feels like fanfiction, and yet it feels so right...
3. Wesley is me any time I've ever been late to class, and our bosses/professors react in exactly the same way.
4. I always knew the Watcher's Council sucked, but this meeting clearly confirms it for me because 1) they don't listen to Wesley, 2) there are no people of color in this meeting, and 3) everyone is in boring, neutral British suits. Ugh!
5. "The slayers... They're humans, not rabble-rousin' robots." "...I do miss rabble-rousin' robots." "Thought you'd like that one-- but that's what I mean, things must change, they need hep, and you could help them." What's happening? Am I agreeing and identifying with Ethan Rayne right now? Other than agreeing on how hot Rupert Giles is, I never thought this would happen.
6. "Oh good, you followed me." "I'm going to remind you that you said that." This is the odd couple we all didn't know we needed.
7. Anyone else not trust the head Council woman and her very bland pantsuit? Yes, I know this once again is me not trusting an older woman in a comic, but still... She gives off evil vibes.
8. Oh s***, does this mean we're getting Faith now? Another Slayer being activated means Faith, right? Does this mean all three of our Slayers get to live and operate at the same time? If so, I love and support it. Give me Buffy/Kendra/Faith friendship (or just ship)! Give me Slayer training and Slayer sleepovers! Give me exasperated Dad Giles and Wesley, cool mom Jenny, and fun ghost uncle Ethan!
9. Wesley, listen to Ethan! You didn't even think to ask your Slayer's name? Really? I fully support Ethan in his roast of Wesley (though I do wonder about his hate of Giles and how exactly it relates to his death).
10. Did the Council set up Wesley to be murdered? Or it is just someone on the Council? What's happening with the Council? I honestly can't wait to find out!
