I really like Braithwaite’s writing style and her dialogue is amazing. I just kinda struggled to connect with the characters. Half way through the story I found myself thinking ”why should I care about this story?” I also found that I don’t like the characters. And in a way that’s unusual for me. I normally love characters that are morally grey (or in this case probably just straight up horrible), but for some reason I just couldn’t like them as characters. The potential this book had with its themes and the way it let me down was dissapointing.

ALSO, this was marketed as a comedy, but I really struggled to find that aspect of the story. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The emotional responsibility we have for our family is so true in this. This book is not what I expected but it asks the question, who are we if we unequivocall  if permissively support a murderer?

It's a great premisce and an original, interesting idea for a plot. The wirting style is also engaging. However, to me, the characters were just too annoying. I am aware that for some characters it made sense to be aggravating and that it was probably intended for them to come across as so. But I really can't deal with a main character whose sole characterization is feeling sorry for herself, at least not if it doesn't lead to some form of character development.

What do you do when the man you want wants your sister? What do you do when your sister tends to kill her boyfriends? And what happens if the coma patient you’ve spilled her secrets to wakes up?

This book is action packed as we bounce between how Korede has found herself cleaning up her sister Ayoola’s crimes and their childhood trauma which sheds some light on why Ayoola does this in the first place. Even though most of the contents are not relatable to most readers, oldest sisters will see the struggle of being made to be responsible for their younger siblings, no matter the cost.

Absolutely worth the read if you’re  in the mood for something quick but full of substance.
