That ending. Oh man. It was just beautiful and perfect. Everything about this book was. I honestly cannot pick out something I didn't love about this book. I just finished it and want to start reading it again.

Reminded me of the movie, “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.” Where the movie was more fantastical, “The Night Circus,” had a much better plot driven narrative, a modern day fairy tale.

Morgenstern subtly balances dualities within the black, white and gray background of Night Circus, and very carefully weighs the fantasy with light philosophical elements that do not at any point detract from the story telling. I liked the fact that there was a slow pace in the beginning to build up to the romance between Celia and Marco, that there was no reciprocal love at first sight, instead there were invested interests at play. The resolution of the love story was brilliant. Their love was bigger than just the two of them. Its magical climax sees
Spoilera pocket of heaven on earth where the power of reason balances with that of the heart.

It was refreshing to see that in an age of relativism, compromise did not necessitate loss of values, that it became something greater, rather than something diluted.

A very satisfying read, exquisitely rendered physical settings, and wonderfully written.

I agree with other reviewers who say that the ending was unnecessary and would have been better without it. Because of the ending, which somewhat tried to change the overall emphasis on imagination of the mind, to the power of books (the latter a prevalent theme lately) I could not give this a full 5 but rather a strong 4.5

I wanted to restart the book the moment I finished it. I didn't ever want to leave the circus.
