I was apprehensive after reading several reviews about how the back cover introduction being a magnified slice, a grander version of the book itself. Yes, there is no dragon splitting fire or sword fighting when they mention "magic dueling". Yes, there is romance, but nothing Twilight-heart-wretching, just enough to keep the stories flow. Nevertheless, the book is charming and ethereal. I myself don't like circuses that much, but Le Cirque des Rêves is written in such detail and exquisite language that it captivates

Magical, intelligent, and surprising!

This is a book that I read literally based on the cover alone. I did not read the cover flap or any reviews. So I started reading with a blank slate, no expectations, and I was so entranced by the world and
characters created.

This is definitely a character driven book, which are the kind I like. I would rather have pages and pages of description and character development than actual plot. The characters throughout this novel all became so clear, by the end I was sad to say goodbye.

The perspective shifts between characters and very close time periods (all within a decade of each other), until everything culminates in the end. Generally, I can figure out where a plot is going, but this book was so different. I just loved it. It was refreshing!
