This was such a touching true story. Love Laura and Maurice's little found family. It puts things into perspective and I'm very grateful for the life I've been given and the one I continue to work for.
This was a 5 star book for 3/4 of it. I couldn't believe the author blew off this boy for her selfish husband. I kept waiting for her to say she was going to adopt him, leave the husband, etc and it didn't happen. It made me not enjoy the last 1/4 of the book. Disappointing.
Couldn’t decide between 3.5 or 4 stars. Enjoyed this book but was left wanting to know more about Maurice and little less about Laura.
Very enjoyable story that I learned more about in (of all places) Costco's Connection publication.
Inspiring story on many levels if you have any interest in learning to be more appreciative, overcome adversity, and how to become a better friend.

I enjoyed it and yet it was very let me "humble brag." There were a couple phrases she used too often. And she f'd up when she moved to the suburbs and she never quite owned that. Granted, she did an amazing thing; I just wish she'd done it even better.
An Invisible Thread: The True Story of an 11-Year-Old Panhandler, a Busy Sales Executive, and an Unlikely Meeting with Destiny by Laura Schroff and Alex Tresniowski is a documentary account of how one person can change a life, and how that can ripple out to a family and perhaps eventually a community. It is a story of hope. The book was a great choice for a book, leading to a lively discussion.

Heartwarming book based on the life of two individuals, different and alike, highlighting the beauty of human compassion and kindness.
Quote from the book that summarizes nicely the relationship between Laurie and Maurice, "I know An Invisible Thread is about an unusual friendship between two different people, but I think it's about much more than that. It is about a mother longing for a child and a child longing for a mother. That longing had nothing to do with umbilical cords or DNA. It had to do with two people who were destined to meet on the corner of 56th Street and Broadway. Every Monday, that mother got to know her son, and that son learned about his mother.
And on those Mondays their hearts were sewn together with an invisible thread." ~Maurice , An Invisible Thread
