Good story and I do believe that she had an unseen and unknown connection with Maurice, but sometimes it felt a little like surface-level recognition of privilege.

I know it’s meant as a YA book, it’s a fairly simple
Story.
Story.
Short and sweet meaningful story! Loved the message and the story.
Originally read Dec 4-6, 2012, now re-reading for book club.
Just as good the second time around!

I'm a sucker for inspirational (and real) accounts of people helping each other, even those that others think are "corny." That is what I was expecting when I read An Invisible Thread, something that would be uplifting amidst the myriad depressing stories in the news every day. I got that...and much more.
Laura Schroff tells an unflinchingly honest and open account of her own life, Maurice's life, and their life together. She doesn't try to hide the occasional warts, or to pass lightly over troubling times, but through it all shines the love that she and Maurice developed for each other, and that sustains them both even today. It began with a simple (but very conscious) act of kindness, received by a remarkably guileless young boy, and progressed into a life-saving (perhaps literally for Maurice) and life-long relationship.
It is a remarkable account, and well worth the time to read it (or in my case, listen to it). The relationship they developed undoubtedly changed them both, and may change some small part of the reader as well. Highly recommended!

Loved this true story. Reminded me of what our pastor says, "Do for one what you wish you could do for all."
The story is much better than the writing. The main story line along with Maurice's epilogue is the jewel.
