I am not yet sure what to think about this book. There were parts I liked and which impressed me, but there were also parts which bored me and therefore I disliked.

--- re-read: This is an important book that I didn't enjoy reading. Nevertheless, you should read it. I don't enjoy the story, and I don't like any of the characters but the story is not there to be enjoyed and the characters are not there to be liked. It's an important story and I appreciate it for that.

--- 1st review: This is a very interesting story about a very interesting subject. Sadly, it wasn't my cup of tea. The writing was quite good, though.
I'm sure a lot of people have more fun reading this book than I did.

I enjoyed this book. The story takes place in South Africa in 1993 when a visiting, white university student is pursued and killed by a group of young people who are fed up with the inhumane treatment they and others like them endure by the powers that be. The mother whose son is being blamed, gives us a glimpse into the lives of her and her family; The reader learns their family's storey and how this horrible incident came to be.
