This is not my typically genre but read for book club. It lived up the hype. The details of the war mixed with love, innocence, naivety,  perseverance. I will say the build up at the beginning and level of detail during the war took up so much of the book, it was needed to fully be invested.

I loved this book for so many reasons. The character felt genuine and the settings were described beautifully to the point of feeling like you were there. The issues around the Vietnam War were handled sensitively and I learned things I didn't know about that time in history. Highly recommend this historical fiction story.
