The Women is an absolutely stunning novel that took me on a wild, emotional ride. While it’s fiction, the story feels so real and offers an eye-opening account of the Vietnam War from a perspective I’ve never seen before. The characters are deeply human, and the way Hannah captures the struggles, strength, and resilience of women in a time of unimaginable chaos is nothing short of masterful.

This is more than a novel—it’s an experience that will stay with me for a long time. FIVE STARS, and I’d give more if I could. If you’re looking for a book that will captivate your heart and broaden your mind, this is it.

Wellp, this fucking wrecked me.

In classic Kristin Hannah fashion, I was left sobbing for the last 20 pages of the book. A devastating, raw, horrific, yet beautiful representation of post-war life, especially for women. A beautiful testament to friendship as well. My God this woman can tell a story.

Well I sobbed my way through about 90% of this book. It is everything a historical fiction book should be,  emotional, reflective and informative enough for you to want to read more about the topic. First book I have read from this author but I doubt it will be my last.

Didn't like this one quite as much as The Great Alone, but it was still good.  I know a few veterans who served in Vietnam, and it really made me think about their experiences and how hard it would've been for them when they first came back.  It was really sad reading about how women weren't often recognized for their services in Vietnam. (In fact, people flat out denied they were even there!)

I liked reading about Frankie's war experiences and was sad to find that she was back home just before the halfway point of the book.  I wouldn't want the rest of the book shorter, I just wish the book had been longer and included more about her wartime experiences.
Also, Frankie's PTSD after the war was written so well.  It was hard sometimes to read about how much she struggled going back to her old way of life after all she'd been through.  I felt really bad for her and wish she could've had an easier time getting help.
