A big thank you to NetGalley, Simon and Schuster, Rachael Lippincott, and Alyson Derrick for the opportunity to read this ARC!

I was having a down day and decided to celebrate Christmas in July with this adorable novella! It’s a follow-up to She Gets the Girl, which if you haven’t read yet… what are you doing?! Rachael and Alyson are the queens of YA WLW books, and this book was no exception!

Joy to the Girls follows Molly and Alex as they help their friend Cora get the girl she’s crushing on. The four of them head to Barnwich, the perfect holiday town to spend their holiday break together. As Molly and Alex try to help Cora, it comes to light that they may be hiding secrets from each other…. secrets about their future after college threaten that may threaten their relationship. Will they be able to help a new relationship blossom and keep theirs at the same time?

Rachael and Alyson seriously cannot write a bad book! 💕 They are absolutely my favorite writing power couple. She Gets the Girl was my first book centered on a WLW couple, so it holds a special place in my heart. I was so excited when I found out that I got to read more of Molly and Alex’s story. This book is a dual POV, which I always love! While I didn’t love that the book was based on two people keeping secrets, I still enjoyed it. It’s super cute and perfect for the holiday season!

Joy to the Girls will be available on September 30th! ❄️

As someone who had a good time with both She Gets The Girl and Make My Wish Come True by this author duo, jumping back in that world for a little bit was a fun time.

I liked seeing what Alex and Molly were up to since we last saw them and the adventures their future took them on. I also enjoyed seeing them work together to get a friend of theirs with the girl she had a crush on.

Unfortunately I didn't love how long it took everyone to admit the things that were on their mind and how it seemed to consume the entire story. I'm glad things still felt light and cheery throughout and the fact that it was set on a Christmas backdrop definitely helped that, but that was my one minor complaint.

thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the ARC to review.

This was such a cute continuation of SGTG! I’m not big on Christmas but it was the perfect vibe without being obnoxious. Their shared growth arc is so wonderful to see continued past the HFN of the first book.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the free eARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was so cute! I think this was a genuine and understandable extension to the characters previously seen in She Gets the Girl. Both our FMCs are struggling with communication about their futures as they approach college graduation which truthfully felt so genuine. They both had their struggles their freshman year of college together and those fears and struggles definitely come back up to the top of their relationship as another big change is approaching. I also enjoyed the sub-plot of getting Cora (a character from She Gets the Girl) to get with the girl she's been crushing on; it was a nice call-back/foil to Alex and Molly's relationship journey.

Review to come in September.

I really loved She Gets the Girl when I read it a couple of years ago, so I was super excited to get more of Alex and Molly. Unfortunately, my excitement dissipated pretty quickly. I know that writing books is a way that Lippincott and Derrick make their money, but they clearly only wrote this as a way to capitalize on the Success of She Gets the Girl and get people interested in their other holiday story, Make My Wish Come True. In my opinion, there was no point to telling this story; at least not as it is. I think it would’ve been great if we’d gotten a full length novel that went into the conflict surrounding what happens with Alex and Molly after graduating - can their relationship survive when they’re separated by an ocean? If they had put in the time and care that continuing Alex and Molly’s story deserves, this would’ve been great. As it is, it’s fine... but it’s just a cash grab.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a very cute follow up to She Gets the Girl. It’s sweet and emotional with just the right amount of conflict for a novella.

This was a much needed cozy Christmas read. I will need to read it again when I read She Gets The Girl so I can enjoy these character that much more! I mean Molly and Alex were here in love although hiding something from each other, that didn't stop them from trying to help Cora and May get together! I mean I almost got a toothache by how sweet these two couples were.
Thank you NetGalley and Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing for the arc.

Wholesome with a little spice, Joy to the Girls was indeed a joy to read. As much as I wanted more, I think the authors gave us just enough. Just enough tension (every type of it), just enough lovey dovey, and just enough heart-melting moments Alex and Molly fans were craving for. But I have a feeling fans are going to want more of May and Cora.
