I have read a chunk of writing books and have an opinion on their quality and style. This one focuses more on the mechanics and less on the philosophy of writing. Of the books I’ve read that espouse to provide a roadmap, this one seems to resonate well with me. I do agree that the tone of the book, at times, was a little offputting.

5 stars because i've read a LOT of writing books and this is one of the few that like. actually made something click for me, y'know? i'm writing again and actually enjoying it. i'm writing again and actually finishing it. 5/5 for that alone.
