Have you ever had a book that you put off reading for whatever reason, despite hearing how great it is? This book has been on my to-read list for awhile and I've always meant to get around to reading it. A lot of Outlander readers have recommended this book and I can see why. Matthew is a great male lead character and Diana has similar characteristics to Claire (ahem, stubbornness). But it's an amazing book without comparing it to Outlander. It has all the great elements of a great story: interesting characters, fascinating storyline, romance that makes you sigh at times and drives you nuts with anticipation. No worries, I've already started the next installment. I'm not going to make that mistake again.
I.... Don't know what to think. I read this from a recommendation from a friend.
The first 50% of this book? Loved it. Once they started with the "I love yous", this went downhill real fast. Lol. It was cringey and strange and the weird romance went from 0-100 real fast.... Lots of info dumping. The whole magic thing went from mysterious and interesting to just... CRINGE. That's all I can say. It felt like a really weird fanfic of Twilight.
Although, I didn't hate it. I think because I was listening to it on audiobook. If I had to read it, I'm not sure I could push through the cringe. I did find it wildly entertaining though. I was cackling through most of the absurdity. I even watched the first season of the TV show and it is equally cringe.
Maybe if I'm bored, I'll continue with book 2.

After 318 pages, I just wasn’t hooked to the story or any of the characters. When I opened the book up again to read more, it did not interest me, so I am embracing the “not for me” option.
