2018 El romance entre los protagonistas tiene muchos cliché ...aveces demasiados.. y es un tanto cursi pero aunque me resistía la verdad es que yo también termine enamorada del vampiro de 1500 años.
Por otro lado la historia de base es bastante interesante; me encantó descubrir cierta referencia en internet que creo yo talvez inspiro a la autora para escribir la base de este libro.
Se nota el trabajo detrás, y la investigación que realizó para entablar una historia de romance pero al mismo tiempo fantasía y ciencia ficción.
La verdad es que trasmite muy bien no solo la personalidad de sus personajes, si no que describe los lugares e incluso los sabores y olores de una manera que te permite identificarte plenamente

È stato un viaggio lungo, ma finalmente ce l’ho fatta. Ho scoperto il libro grazie alla serie tv (di cui ho visto le prime 4 puntate) e ho deciso di leggere prima questo e di concludere in seguito la serie. Ora, il libro l’ho adorato. Le prime pagine le ho trovate un po’ noiose, ma più andavo avanti e più la voglia di sapere aumentava. L’unica pecca di questo libro? La lunghezza; veramente troppa. Capisco che senza tutti i particolari e le descrizioni il libro non sarebbe stato così bello, ma alcuni passaggi secondo me potevano essere eliminati. Il punto forte invece, a mio parere, sono le relazioni che vengono ad instaurarsi tra i vari personaggi. Riuscire a far affezionare un lettore in modo così profondo è veramente un dono. Un libro bellissimo, con uno stile di scrittura magico e poetico, dei personaggi forti e ben caratterizzati, delle descrizioni e dei paesaggi meravigliosi; non vedo l’ora di leggere il seguito!

If you took the dark academia vibes from A Study in Drowning, plus the 'im a vampire older than is reasonable and there's no way you would understand' from Twilight 🤣, plus the time travel and 'man of a past time' vibes from Outlander, plus the older writing style that reminded me of 'Morrigans Cross' AND a little something that reminded me of 'Filthy Rich Vampire'?
BOOM. A Discovery of Witches. At first I wasn't entiiiiiiirely loving it? It had that older style of writing where I was like 'we are 220 pages in and all they've done is spend time in the library, talk about a book, go to yoga, and eat'. Where each of these moments in a more modern book would be little blips but in this is was decent stretches of time. But by the end (even if there still wasn't enough action for me. And very minimal sexy stuff) I was hooked. It was one of those reads where after I was done i set it down and paced my library for a few minutes stewing and processing on all that had happened. I had ratcheted up the reading speed to 2.5 at that point lol.
Regardless of the slower pace of this book, I am very excited to pick up book 2 in this series!

I really enjoyed the story, my biggest issue is how drawn out parts of the book were it seemed unnecessary but I'm looking forward to reading Shadow of Night next and seeing where the next part of the story takes Matthew and Diana.
