Halfway through I did not think I would like this very much as it had a few thrones I didn't particular care for. However by the end of it I was completely hooked and I liked the way the author went with the plot. It was a bit though to read as it deals with rape and child abuse but glad I'm picked it up anywho.

I didn't like this, it is as simple as that.

I wanted to like it. I really did. I haven't read many books that have an autistic character, and that is something I vowed to look into in 2018, so I held out. Unfortunately, it didn't make the book any better or more tolerable.

I just found the plot really dry and stretched out. Halfway through the book, you could pinpoint exactly who did it and how it happened, which I hate because it takes the fun out of reading the book. I didn't really enjoy the conflict between characters, which is strange because that adds a lot of dimension to a plot. And a lot of those conflicts were left completely unresolved and I figured the book could have been written without them.

Even sitting here I can't think of anything I really liked about it. I feel like 2 stars are generous, but 1 star is too harsh. So I'll stick it to a 1.5 rating.

This one. I liked the story line. But honestly, it was a bit much to read. There were 4 different view points in addition to flipping back and forth in the timeline. It honestly makes it harder to track. I struggled to read when I started to get tired because of it.

But like I said, I liked the storyline. The characters were well written, and because of the different viewpoints, you could empathize with all of them. Overall, if the flip flopping doesn’t bother you, I would suggest checking this one out.

The Blackbird Season is a fast paced, suspenseful novel, with just a hint of the paranormal, which kept me reading well into the early hours. It is the story of a small town where connections between individuals are complex, and relationship boundaries between teacher and student as well as between police and suspect become blurred. Rumours spread like wildfire, intentions are misread and jealousy and obsession result in tragic consequences. Highly recommended. Thanks to Atria Books and NetGalley for the ARC.

A wonderfully nuanced literary thriller. Moretti's well-drawn characters will surprise you with their unreliability. Many overlays of the love, betrayal, redemption theme. This is my favorite kind of read -- a page-turning well-crafted literary novel with subtle surprises galore.

Thank you, Netgalley for the e-review edition.

I couldn’t finish this book. None of the characters were engaging to me. I listened to the first quarter of the book and the narrators weren’t helping.

Holy crap. This book was fantastic!

I want to make a side comment real quick. Every time I read a book with a pale, blonde character, I always picture Sara Harvey from Pretty Little Liars. It's funny how we all animate books differently in our heads.

Anyway!

This entire book had a creepy halloween/autumn undertone to it, which is strange because it definitely isn't that time of year. All the seniors are almost out of high school and they're all anxious to leave their small town behind for good.

There are dead birds falling from the sky, mentions of tarot cards, high school drama and some heavy stuff, mixed right on in.

I'm going to be a jerk for a second and express my (almost) hatred for Alecia. She drove me fucking nuts. Always in a sourpuss mood, being a bitch, starting fights, etc... But, where the 'almost' hatred part comes in, I completely understand the resentment she feels and I feel like some of her drama was justified.

I don't want to share too much. This book grabbed me by about the 3rd or 4th chapter. The chapters are short and it's an easy breezy read. I highly recommend this book. I can't wait for everyone to get their hands on it once it's released!

Another wonderful book from Kate Moretti! Moretti does a masterful job of portraying the claustrophobia of small town life. She is also skillful in her examination of the sometimes monstrous things that people can do without portraying those people as monsters, which makes the ultimate reveal all the more heart-breaking. My favorite part of any of Moretti's books, however, is her wonderful way with words--I always want to read with a highlighter in my hand so I can return to the lovely turns of phrase she comes up with. Highly recommended!

Kate Moretti is such an amazing storyteller. I was so excited to read this book, and I wasn't disappointed. With both super unique characters and a roller coaster of a story line, this book will keep you guessing until the end!
