Stephen Aston is getting married again, to a woman younger than his daughters. He is still married to his first wife, in a care facility with dementia, but he has no qualms about getting a divorce. Tully and Rachel Aston can’t help but be suspicious of their soon-to-be mother-in-law, who they are certain is a gold digger. Since their mom can’t stand up for herself, the sisters are determined to get to the truth of the matter. Meanwhile, Heather, the bride-to-be, has her own secrets and reasons for wanting to marry Stephen.

This story is told from multiple perspectives, and I like that the audiobook had a different narrator for each person. Unfortunately, I was lukewarm about the story itself. It was mildly entertaining, but the ending did not do any favors to the story. If you want to read a Sally Hepworth novel, I suggest checking out The Mother’s Promise, The Things We Keep, or The Family Next Door instead.

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.
