Fury of Obsession fed so many of my obsessions--dragon shifters, alpha males, romance, heroes, distraught females, bad guys getting put in their places, and did I mention dragon shifters?? This is book five in Dragon Fury, an exciting suspenseful shifter series. I enjoyed reading Venom's story. His life had been challenging, abusive when he was young, without love. Add to it the problem of being toxic to a female in 40 minutes, it makes for a lonely life. Have no fear, Fate has plans for Venom. He finds love and a mate, but it takes time to develop. If Venom's challenges weren't enough, The furies still had to deal with Ivar and the Razorbacks. Fate uses Venom and his future mate, Evelyn. to bring the Furies and Razorbacks into conflict. Ivar discovers he has a traitor leaving us with a cliffhanger--will he discover who it is??? What will happen next?? Another cliffhanger came to an end--Gage and Haider had previously been captured by Rodin, one of Ivar's supporters in Europe, and tortured. Their situation was a nail biter. The physical torture may have ended, but the mental issues have yet to begin. The furies may end up with a war on two fronts.

Another great story about the Nightfury pack. There are so many things going at once. Venom finding his mate in Evelyn, Ivar letting loose a superbug and then having a crisis of conscience, Gage and Haider fighting their way to freedom. This book does not stop til the last sentence. One fast paced scene after another. It's hard to believe this book happens over the course of maybe a few days. Wow.

Well, Hello Venom! So you prefer brown skin huh? I can dig it! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ The connection between these 2 is incredible. And I love it that with dragonkind it's a matter of fate, not really want. The fact that once these females have mated with them, there's no going back for anyone. They're lives are extended to live as long as their dragonkind mate. The fact that they stay together and are possessive. I love it! It's cute. Something that current modern day marriages lack . . . I am officially ruined because now I won't accept anything less.

But I digress. Evelyn was perfect for Venom. Attitude and all - get it girl! πŸ˜‚ And I loved their story.

All I want to know is when the next books are coming out. I need to know that Rodin gets his butt handed to him, Zidane gets what's coming to him, Ivar and his pack get squashed permanently, Mac beats the crap out of Hamersveld... Gage and Haider and Nian maybe teaming up?? I mean come on... Bronze, silver and now gold??? Sounds good to me. And what about Osgard? What kind of dragon does he become? And Azrad... Is he finally accepted into the Nightfuries?? GASP!!! Does Angela get pregnant with the first Dragonkind female????? Oh! And the Nightfuries ALL need H-E mates of their own too!!! Especially since Ivar has his own story... (Grrrr...) Sooooo many questions!!!!! Looks like you have your work cut out for you Coreene... I'll be waiting...

I started this series a few years ago when I had Prime and thoroughly enjoyed all four of those. This one was lackluster by comparison and just left me wanting. The back and forth in all the different POVs got tedious after awhile and seemed almost unnecessary. It almost made it to where you couldn't get invested in any of the stories let alone the main one.

Honestly I just didn't get invested in Venom and Evie and their relationshi seemed more like a lust that happened to grow into a bond. Maybe the others were like that and I just forgot but here it seemed rush and there was no chance to develop into much of anything. And there was the chance in Ivar which was sudden but apparently there is a novella somewhere as an in-between that I missed.

I picked this up thinking it would be Sloan's story (as I said it has been a few years since I read the last one so I had forgotten all the names) and that could have contributed to the overall sense of it just being okay. But the story itself didn't give enough time for a romance or relationship to develop between Venom and Evie. I didn't hate this book but I also didn't enjoy it as much as I did the others. I will still likely pick up Sloan's book when she writes it but I am not sure if I will pick up the others just yet.

Love where the plot is going.

I'm just disappointed that the cover doesn't match Venom description... He has long blond hair... Like what?

I should have known better than to get too excited about this book just because the last one was so good. It was okay, but the parts with Venom and Evelyn were the worst of the whole thing. They were so boring and emotional and I did not get into either one of them at all. Fortunately the other characters really had me interested. But perhaps the best part? The author has finally stopped staying "shit kickers" instead of boots. Dare I hope we're done with the last of the two things she said an insane amount that drove me nuts?

By the end of the book I really wanted to bang my head against a wall. Venom and Evelyn had known each other for hours and already were confessing their love for each other. HOURS people. And less than a month later are going to bond for eternity...ugh. It's amazing how much insta-love can bug me some times.

I didn't care for Evelyn much at all. I didn't hate her, but I didn't like her either. Her mother had a serious gambling problem and when she died, Evelyn inherited the debt. From the Russian mob. Wait, what? The Russian mob is in Seattle now? That's not the worst of it though. Evelyn has lost her job because of a big scandal where she worked, and now nobody wants to hire her. Out of time and options, she finds the only answer to her money problem is by selling her body. Lucky for her, her first and only client is Venom.

Venom had a terrible childhood and when he killed his sire to save Venom, he developed this desire to be needed. Which made his relationship with Wick work perfect for both of them. I really like the bond between Venom and Wick, but since Wick mated J.J. it has been strained seeing how Wick doesn't spend as much time with him. Leaving Venom lonely...and jealous. Which leads to Venom to disobey a direct order and go out by himself to find some comfort with a woman. What he finds instead of a quick lay and a feed is his mate. He knew it as soon as he felt her energy and saw it was a perfect match for his. Uh huh.

Instead of kidnapping her like his brothers have done, Venom wants to woo her like a normal male would. He regrets it almost immediately. Not only because of the flack he takes from the others, but because it just so happens that Evelyn lives in the small town where Ivar released his virus. And it's starting to take it's tole. Evelyn's immunity to the virus makes her a big target to Ivar when he discovers that his newest baby has had an unacceptable side effect. One he must remedy as soon as he can, and needs her blood for it. Venom shows up before Ivar can grab her, a fight ensues, and Evelyn no longer will be eased into the world of dragons. She's going to be thrown right into the middle. Her and Venom talk some, but screw more and somehow that turns into eternal love. I don't know...whatever....

I'm starting to like Bastian more and more with each book. But damn it, would he freakin' punish the guys for breaking direct orders all already?? Every time a warrior breaks one, Bastian lets it go. This time it finally looked like some repercussions were is sight. Until Venom gives his sob story and Bastian blames himself for not noticing. Oh, come on! We didn't get much of Azrad at all here, but things are going to get even harder for him going forward it looks like.

Across the world we find out what has become of Gage, Haider and Nian. And it is not good at all. Pretty much worst case scenario. With a lot of luck and a tag along, they manage to get themselves free and back on their way home. But Rodin is obsessed with destroying Bastian and will completely twist what happened there to his own ends. If Rodin gets his way, life is about to change for the Nightfuries. Not that I think Bastian will mind based on his reaction when he first found out.

Not much really went on with Ivar this time around. For most of the time he's losing his mind waiting to see results of his experiment. When word finally reaches him that it's taken hold, he's thrilled. Until he notices something that should not be happening. Though it goes against everything he wants, he knows he needs to find a cure and fast. While he will be working on that, Hamersveld will be setting up a competition for the Razorback males to fight for the chance to mate with one of the women Ivar has locked up. Which will no doubt turn into a huge event.

I like Forge, so I hope his book will be good. More importantly, I really want more of the metallics. Their homecoming is sure to be interesting.

What can I say, I liked it but the reading was quite difficult. This book is essential to understand the whole plot. It is hard to follow the story, as we see the Nightfury, the Razorback, and Haider & Gage still stuck in Prague.

Venom has a strong relationship with Wick and wants the same happiness as him. And one night he meets Evie the only woman strong enough to handle his poison. At the same time, she’s struggling with her finances and her mother's debts giving her a hard time. Fighting a new virus created by Ivar the leader of Razorback, the Nightfury tried to protect the humans and retrieve Evie living in the infectious area.

Meanwhile, Haider and Gage fight for their survival and try to go home, bringing new members along the way.
As the next book is dedicated to Forge

Well damn.

The last 2 books in this series seem to be veering off the PNR course and into Fantasy. Because the romance was almost nonexistent. So much page time spent on the baddies and the concurrent story lines that the supposed main couple got shafted. I was supposed to believe these two were in love? After they spent 5 mins together? It was almost 80% into the story before the H & h even got anything resembling significant development and the were rushed to an epilogue with a cursory HEA. Empty calories was all I got outta this meal.

I'm interested in reading about the ROMANCE not a story about Dragon wars.

Sadly, this might be my last Dragonfury read....
