Rhinoceros is a very entertaining play, with a premise that I think is as relevant now as it was in the 1960s. The other two plays in this collection (The Leader and The Future Is in Eggs or It Takes Two to Make a World) were much shorter and I didn't enjoy them nearly as much as Rhinoceros.

i actually enjoyed the Future is in Eggs or It Takes all Sorts to Make a World more, although Rhinoceros talked adeptly about issues of social conformity against the rising tide of Nazism I found the Future...Eggs to be more brass and ridiculously wonderful. The commentary on the issue of a pure race so set on production that it becomes nigh absurd, was spot on.

I just finished reading Eugene Ionesco's "Rhinoceros, and Other Plays" - three deliriously absurd plays about the dangers of groupthink and mindless conformity, and the struggle to maintain our humanity. Three great, ambitious, intellectually challenging plays.

So many good times acting out this play. Comme j'adore la theatre de l'absurde!

I think Rhinoceros would be significantly better on the stage than the page. I would also recommend doing some background research on the play before reading or seeing it, as the historical context is pretty necessary to understanding its full meaning.
