Loved the mixed media format, looking forward to picking up more by this author. Fell a little bit flat I think because I jumped into a later novella which took place following one of her earlier novels. I’m hoping I didn’t spoil the novel for myself.
Really enjoyed this, although did prefer the original appeal.
Great mystery and loved the setting.

Title: The Christmas Appeal
Author: Janice Hallett
Pages: 208
Rating: 5/5
This was a really clever well written book and my first introduction to Janice Hallett (and I doubt it'll be my last)
I love a cosy crime/mystery and this did not disappoint.
I was amazed at how well the story progressed by correspondence via email, messages and chat transcripts alone. As someone who enjoys a heavy amount of world building this was incredibly clever and something I've not seen before.
The story was light hearted. (Albeit predictable) But an incredibly fun and festive read.
From an ethical standpoint the professionals did disappoint me. (My same gripe for the last party by Claire Mackintosh 🤣) Maybe more will follow in future books of the series?
You'll love this book if you like;
- cosy crime
- cosy murder mystery
- dialogue heavy reads
- novellas
- light hearted mystery
- low stake read
Will you be putting this on your tbr? Have you read it already, what were your thoughts??
