Eleven short stories that are interconnected by dark strings that weave a tapestry of misery and violence in the lives of the characters who inhabit it.

quite a few of these were misses to me which lowered the rating despite some pretty good stories. i don’t know if i would consider them horror stories though. most were pretty tame imo. i did like how they all connected though

I’ve never read another book where every single character is so uniquely & disturbingly fucked up . very impressed by that . very cool how connected every story was too imo

Definitivamente quero ler mais livros da autora, nomeadamente The Memory Police e The Housekeeper and The Professor.

Having read The Memory Police, I was quite excited to get into more of Ogawa’s works. With this collection of short stories, I find myself quite surprised by the different style of writing, but all the more in love with Ogawa’s stories.

This book is dark and almost horror-like in the way the tension is built throughout. It’s a quick read, one that I found quite enjoyable despite some of the darker themes.

I have to say I’m not *too* fond of short stories since I like to get to know characters; but each story was quite engaging, though there was stronger ones here and there, and I wished the book had a more definite ending.

Definitely delving into more of Ogawa’s writing after this, though! A solid 4 stars, if not 4.25 :)
