I don't think the end gave justice to the rest of the book. I felt like the characters all grew a lot and had challenges, some which seemed over the top, and then had no resolution that gave appropriate weight to the challenges.

It’s not easy to tackle war, love, loss, estranged relationships between parent and child, in a children’s book. It was done appropriately considering the heaviness of the topics and the intended audience.

I read this with my 2nd grader who struggled to get into it on his own (understandably) but got into it reading it aloud with me.

3 1/2 stars. It was good but I was expecting much more from the story. The interactions between the foxes was well done. Where and when the story takes place is not clear, and I understand why, but that didn't do it for me.
