That had a pretty surprising ending
adventurous challenging emotional sad tense

Really enjoyed this book, I liked how it is told through two perspectives: the boy and his fox. Very meaningful book about the cost of war for families and individuals. Already looking forward to reading the second book.

One of the best middle grade novels I've read. Moving, believable, a bit heartbreaking while still being hopeful. Great writing.

I really enjoyed this book. It really rips at your emotions, and that made it fantastic. Reminded me of other survivalist novels, yet Pax, Bristle, and Runt really made the story soar. I was surprised and a little disappointed by the ending and wish we could’ve known if Peter ever found home.
