This book was pretty full of twists and turns, so many honestly. I was not expecting this read to be so controversial and saw the protagonist as a victim at the start but some things are revealed along the line. It was definitely a book that kept me on my toes. If you are into thrillers, this is the book for you. There was a lot of mystery that comes to a reveal toward the end. And you get a sort of full satisfaction of what you read throughout the book. The main character is VERY controversial and a compulsive liar who seems like she is addicted to lying but you don't know it until it's too late. The content is not extremely graphic but there is some blood mentioned and a dead body.

Holy sh*t. I don’t even know what to believe as the truth but that was a helluva fun rollercoaster of a story.

I listened to the audiobook version and it was fantastic. It was performed (phenomenally) by a full cast, coupled with an immersive soundscape, allowing you to be pulled into the setting of the story and letting it visually unfold in your mind.
It’s told from multiple perspectives and timelines so you might get mental whiplash but it’ll be worth it.

This book was a slow burn right up until the very end. It was incredible to hear the breakdown of Josie’s life and it did really felt like I was in the middle of a crime drama breakdown. When I first read the books summary, I could’ve never pieced together that this book would come out of it. The entire book was about questioning who you could trust and who was going to turn on who. It played with the emotions and with the mind. The character are unreliable, the back story is too wild to be true, I found myself yelling at the characters because I wanted them to be smarter. I feel like though the overall book felt slower, that there was a constant feeling that something bad was going to happen or be uncovered next. As more of the character lives unfurl, it is building into a very interesting climax. This book made me consider being more careful with who I let into my life. The book had this aspect of being a Netflix documentary, which I wasn’t th biggest fan of. But I love how the character told her story through this medium. There was so much charged energy in this book that I didn’t want to put it down.

If you are a fa of crime dramas, psychological thrillers, a movie-like storytelling then you will most likely enjoy this book. It will keep you guessing right up until the end. This book was one of the wildest rides, I would definitely read it again.

TW: this book does include abuse, alcoholism, mental-instability, pedophilia, and death.

OMG! This is a first Lisa Jewell novel and it set the bar high. I’m terrible at connecting dots but towards the end you will have even more thoughts as dots get connected. Towards the end, it’s impossible to put down. Great physical read!
